WhatsApp, the world’s most widely used and Facebook owned messaging App has started testing a new feature to allow users to verify the received contents of forwarded messages with taps.
A WhatsApp authority told to Mirror “We are working on new features to help empower users to find out more information about the messages they receive that have been forwarded many times. This feature is currently in testing, and we look forward to rolling it out in the near future.”
This New feature of whatsApp will appear next to received messages which have been forwarded several times. The feature symbol will be in the form of magnifying glass button. Users can check the suspected message’s accuracy and avoid sending fake messages by tapping on this button.
The company has started rolling out the feature silently to users on beta version app. This will be very helpful to release the new feature on WhatsApp for 2 billion dedicated users.
To check the fact about message the user have to do the things is that, on taping the magnifying glass button it will display a popup saying “Would you like to search this on the web? This will upload the message to Google.” The user can cancel or tap on message as per their choice.
This time when various companies are asking their employees to work from home, the reliability and importance of messaging apps like WhatsApp has been increased as they became the main source of information now.
Countries like India where fake news and rumors spread rapidly over messaging platform, this feature of whatsApp may very helpful. The immediate launch of this feature is the need of time when the coronavirus has been spread all over the world. This will really prevent the spread of fake news about coronavirus and help the people being safe.
